School Tour Kiltimagh

The Junior and Senior Infant children boarded the bus excitedly this morning for Kiltimagh. The first stop was a nature walk in the Wetlands Park. Here we took part in activities such as bug hunting, pond dipping, tree & bird watching. The sun shone and it was a beautiful morning to be outdoors.
Next, we arrived at Maghu’s Castle and Tír na nÓg Fun Park. We began with some outdoor fun including zip wires, swings, slides, climbing frames and a roundabout. After a tasty hot lunch, we were excited to get to the indoor play area. There were all sorts of play activities. We played in the ball pond, climbed the frames, whizzed down the slide and crawled through tunnels. We used the play houses and kitchens for roleplay and used the giant Lego bricks for building. One of our favourite areas was the shooting area where we shot foam balls from a cannon.
Everybody played nicely together, behaved brilliantly and had great fun.

Speech and Drama

We have been doing Speech and Drama lessons this term. We have taken part in many games and activities but our main work has been on our drama 'Chicken Licken'. We all had a part in either narrating the story or being in role as one of the animals.
Yesterday, we performed for our school friends. We really enjoyed being on stage.

Visit of Garda Walsh

Garda Walsh visited our classroom to talk to us about his job and the ways in which the Gardaí can help us. They don't just catch robbers; they can help us if we are ever lost or lose something. He talked to us about calling 999 in case of an emergency and asked us all to learn our address, that its very important if we ever needed help. We learned about the animals the Gardaí use to help them with their work - horses and dogs. Thank you for visiting.

Sports Day

Yesterday we had Sports Day at school. The fun started with Sports For All - we were divided into teams and went from station to station, doing different activities - penalty shoot out, skipping, gymnastics, basketball shots, running, jumping, throwing etc.  It was great to be with all our school friends from Junior to 6th class. Our senior buddies helped us with our skills.

In the afternoon, it was Race Time.  We took part in a running race and a sack race. We all crossed the finish line...woohoo!! Our families and teachers were very proud of us!

Summer Writing

June is here and there are alot of exciting things happening e.g. sports day and school tours etc but we are still working hard in class.
We did some Summer Writing in our best handwriting - so great that it went straight up onto the wall!!

Summer Art
We took inspiration from 4th, 5th and 6th class' art work on Zendoodles. We designed our footballs and basketballs with various doodles.
